The CSL ASSINIBOINE

So on my walk yesterday I managed to capture the sailing off of the CSL Assiniboine - a Great Lakes self-unloading bulk carrier, built in 1977, that was heading for Quebec City - a 2 day journey.

This mighty carrier is  739' 10" (225.50m) long!  I thought it would never end as I was recording it going by, (see video at the end of the post).

More stats:
Beam - 78' 00" (23.76m)
Depth - 48' 05" (14.75m)
Capacity (mid-summer) - 36,768 tons (37,358 mt) at a draft of 30' 04" (9.25m)
Power (diesel) - 9,000 b.h.p.

I seen it first, way off in the distance... slowly but surely, approaching me.

CHEEKY SQUIRREL, NEIGHBOUR'S CAT...

The cheeky squirrel I wrote about in my previous post I guess isn't the only one around this yard that's cheeky or finding this fence 'convenient'...

I thought he was looking down at something... but that's how he slept for the next hour and a half, lol.

CHEEKY SQUIRREL (MY VIDEOS)

All my life I had no idea squirrels could be so 'cheeky' especially when it comes to eating bird seeds.  I always thought they were afraid of humans if we got too close.  Apparently not when it comes to raiding the bird feeder.  They love bird seeds! Who knew.

I tried to scare him away twice, but ... no such luck, the cheeky bastard. My love bird wasn't too thrilled either. Lol.

Check out the video below when you can.

MY SCORE!: A B&D RECHARGEABLE SPOTLIGHT FOR $11.99

COM
Look what I scored yesterday at a Canadian Tire store - a Black & Decker Rechargeable Spotlight for $11.99.  It was regularly $59.99!  I wasn't in there shopping for a spotlight but for that price, as the Belgians would say- you can't leave it!

Besides, it was only later I realized it would be most beneficial for me when it's time to enter the dreaded attic. There are no windows in this attic, it is as pitch black as can be so I thought this spotlight would come in handy.  Money well spent!.. I thought.

You can also use it in many other places as suggested on the box:

Use it for Roadside Assistance, Fishing/Boating or Camping!   Oooooh... I'm so excited!

Now if only I could use it right away but it says it has to be charged for 24 hrs!

UPDATE!
Aug. 29, 2013

Ok, it seemed to take forever to charge but I don't know if it was because I would plug it out at night and re-plug it in the morning but eventually I just used it.  I was waiting for the charger light to turn green - it never did.  Anyways, it gives off a really bright light, almost like a beam and the other light setting seams 'normal'. Either way, so far it seems like a good score.

I'll be trying it out in the attic for a true test and will be getting back to you with the results....
