A raspberry flavoured Belgian beer.
Next beer up on my quest in finding that perfect beer that doesn't... uhm, taste like beer but 'acts' like beer is the BOON FRAMBOISE (Boon Raspberry).
Lambic is a type of beer brewed only in a certain region of Brussels. Unlike the previous beer I tried (
Fruli), which was more fruity, this beer had a bitter aftertaste.
The beer pours a dark, ruby red with a tall fizzy head of pink foam which disappears quickly. As for the smell - you can smell the fresh raspberry aroma immediately upon opening it with a bit of 'barnyard funk' as the experts call it, a kind of sourness aroma which is derived from this particular yeast strain. This beer is brewed with 300 grams of raspberries per liter of liquid.
2 bottles were purchased at around $5.85 a bottle. At the time of purchase, the staff at the LCBO mentioned they were new to the store and were disappearing quickly off the shelves!
Overall, it was a bit too tart for me but would probably be more appreciated by beer connoisseurs...
